About Pastor Scott
Born and raised in Salem, Oregon, Scott was baptized at birth, raised and confirmed in 8th grade and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was elected and ordained an Elder in 1989. After a very short “first career” teacher of elementary and preschool children, he went on to graduate school, attending Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia and graduated with his M.Div. and M.A.C.E. in 2002. While working as the Program Director for Menucha Retreat and Conference Center (2006-2016), he became a Certified Christian Educator in 2008, and a Certified Camp/Retreat Leader in 2010. He became an ordained Teaching Elder in 2014 and served as solo pastor (pt) to Trout Lake, WA First Presbyterian Church, a small church in a rural community for 8 and a half years. In May of 2020 He was awarded Doctorate of Ministry in Leadership and Spirit from Portland Seminary, affiliated with George Fox University. He is married to Katie, a pediatrician with The Corvallis Clinic, and they have three children, Timothy (15) Sarah (13), and Elizabeth (10). He recently concluded three years as first Bridge Pastor, then Interim Head of Staff at First Presbyterian, Corvallis (September 2022 – August 2025). He loves spending time in the outdoors, spending time with family, refereeing elementary soccer, reading books, gardening and cats; although he won’t say no to a well-made Mocha. Pastor Scott is currently a minister in good standing in the Presbytery of the Cascades, serving on COM-Central and engaged in a course of study to become a Certified Spiritual Director.
A Stated Supply pastor is defined as a “temporary” position in our denomination’s Book of Order, a one-year contract between a pastor and a church's Session, renewable annually upon mutual agreement. I look forward to getting to know all of you and learning what your yearnings are for the future as we enter into our time together. My position with you is half time, 20 hours a week. Many of my “office hours” will be at home so I am easily accessible to my children’s schools and available for them after school is out each day. As we work into a weekly rhythm, and with your input, I am happy to work out some office time at the church on a regular basis, as well as for worship planning purposes. Thank you for your grace in understanding my multiple “hats!”
Peace of Christ,
Pastor Scott
